Intro. Emma lives a solitary life in which she works as a bounty hunter in Boston. On the day of her twenty-eighth birthday, Emma is approached by a 10-year-old boy who claims to be her son, Henry, whom she had given up for adoption when he was a baby. Emma does not want to establish a relationship with him, although she agrees to take him back to her home in Storybrooke, Maine. Along the way Henry shows her a large book of fairy tales, insisting that all the tales are real. When he arrives at Storybrooke, Henry tells him that all the inhabitants are, in reality, fairy tale characters exiled by a curse and with no memory of their true identities. This includes Henry's therapist, Dr. Archie Hopper, who is actually Jiminy Cricket and his teacher Mary Margaret Blanchard, who is actually Emma's mother, Snow White. Henry states that time stands still in Storybrooke and that the people are unable to leave the village, but that Emma will break the curse as she is Blanca's daughter
